Privacy Policy

Who we are

B-Side Daily is operated by Alimio LTD, a company registered in England and Wales. For any privacy-related questions, write to us at andreialexandru@alimio.app. We are the data controller for the personal data described below, and we process it under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect

When you play anonymously. Your streak progress, last puzzle played, and per-question results are stored locally in your browser using localStorage. This information never leaves your device.

When you sign in or join the waitlist. We collect your email address and an account identifier issued by our authentication provider.

When you complete puzzles while signed in. We record your daily score, the per-question correctness of your answers, and the dates you played (used to compute your streak).

Automatic data. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) keeps standard server logs — IP address, browser type, timestamps, requested URLs — used for operating and securing the Service.

Aggregate play analytics. When anyone (signed-in or anonymous) completes a daily puzzle, we record an event in our own database with: the time of completion, the puzzle's edition number, the score, whether the visitor was signed in, whether the device was mobile or desktop, and a 2-letter country code derived from the visitor's IP at the Cloudflare edge. No cookie or identifier is set on your device for this purpose, and the records cannot be linked back to an individual. We use these aggregates to understand how the Service is being used.

We do not sell your data. We do not run advertising. We do not share your data for marketing purposes.

Why we collect it

• To run the daily puzzle and your streak.
• To send the magic-link sign-in email.
• To notify you when leagues launch (if you joined the waitlist).
• To detect abuse and keep the Service running.

Third-party services

The following providers may process your data on our behalf:

• Cloudflare — hosting, edge network, security
• Supabase — database, authentication, transactional email

We do not currently use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. We do keep our own first-party aggregate play counts (described under "What we collect" above), but these stay inside our own infrastructure and are not shared with any third party. If we ever add a third-party analytics or marketing tool, this Policy will be updated.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies, all of which are essential for the Service to function (for example, to keep you signed in after you click a magic-link). We do not use marketing or third-party tracking cookies, and therefore do not display a cookie consent banner.

Your rights

If you are in the UK, EEA, or California, you have the right to:

• Request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Opt out of further communications

To exercise any of these rights, email andreialexandru@alimio.app. We aim to respond within 30 days.

Data retention

• Account data is retained for as long as your account exists.
• Submissions and streak history are retained for as long as your account exists, then deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
• Server logs are retained per Cloudflare's policies (typically 30 days).
• Waitlist emails are retained until either (a) you ask to be removed, or (b) the feature you signed up for has launched and you've been notified.

Children

B-Side Daily is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have, please email andreialexandru@alimio.app and we will remove the data.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new "last updated" date. We will not retroactively change how we use already-collected data without notice.
